How to gain clarity

One of my favorite business tools and practices is sitting in silence.

Most of us are conditioned to look outside for guidance and inspiration.

When we have a doubt or a question, often our first instinct is to ask a coach, friend, teacher or therapist for guidance.

There is so much value in gaining insight from someone else who can see our situation from a different vantage point, AND there is SO much value in making the space to tune in and see if we have our own answer first.

All of us carry a tremendous amount of wisdom and when we get quiet enough to listen, we can usually find the answers we’re needing.

The next time you have a question in your business (how to price an offer, what to write in an Instagram post or email, how to deal with a challenging client) or any of the myriad of questions we have on a daily basis, give this practice a try.

Simply sitting in silence and asking specific or broad questions for 2 - 20 minutes may just be the best business tool or business meeting you’ll ever have.

This practice is free, requires nothing, can be done anywhere and and even 1 minute may change your life.

Sitting in Silence Practice

1.Set the intention for your practice

Is it to simply drop in with yourself? Is it to tune into the spirit of your business and be open to what you hear? Is there a specific topic or question you’re wanting clarity on in business or life?

2. Set your timer for any amount of time you have access to (2 - 20 minutes)

3. Close your eyes, bring your awareness inward and breathe

If it’s comfortable, you can place your hands over your heart or over your knees facing up to receive or down to ground.

4. Ask the question out loud or in your head

If your intention is open, you can ask the question of “Is there anything I need to see right now?” or ask a specific question for what you’re wanting clarity on.

If you want to use this to connect to the spirit of your business, feel the presence of your business or your body of work as you ask your question.

5. Write down your insights

After the timer goes off, if something came up for you that you want to remember, grab your journal or phone and write down what came up for you.
